The Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) hosted a workshop in Sylhet under the ILO’s Promoting Gender Responsive Enterprise Development and TVET System (ProGRESS) Project, supported by the Government of Canada. This event brought together the Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. The session featured insightful discussions, with individuals with disabilities sharing their experiences and ideas on workplace inclusion. This workshop is part of a 10-district sensitization initiative aimed at creating inclusive employment. A final validation workshop was conducted in 7th January 2021 to generate discussion on finalizing the “Return to Work and Rehabilitation Strategy” and taking the implementation forward. At this high-level strategic workshop, Mr. Abdus Salam, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment was present as the chief guest in an event that included representatives from government, employers’ associations, workers’ associations, GIZ, International Labour Organization (ILO), Disability and Rehabilitation focused organizations.
