The Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) and BRAC Bank have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 15, 2024 to promote disability inclusion in the workforce and banking sector. This strategic partnership falls under BRAC Bank’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, “Aporajeyo Ami,” which is dedicated to health, empowerment, and social inclusion.
Under this agreement, BBDN will:
- Train persons with disabilities to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial skills.
- Conduct accessibility assessments of BRAC Bank’s premises to improve physical and digital accessibility.
- Facilitate sensitization workshops for BRAC Bank employees to build awareness and promote inclusive workplace practices.
This partnership is a milestone in advancing disability inclusion, not just within BRAC Bank but across the broader corporate sector. During the MoU signing ceremony, Mr. Sabbir Hossain, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer of BRAC Bank, emphasized:
“At BRAC Bank, we believe that inclusion is not just a responsibility but a necessity for a thriving society. Our partnership with BBDN is more than just a commitment; it is a call to ensure persons with disabilities are seen, heard, and given the opportunity they deserve to help contribute more to national economic growth.”
Mr. Murteza Rafi Khan, CEO of BBDN, expressed his enthusiasm:
“This partnership with BRAC Bank is a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to build a more inclusive Bangladesh. Together, we will amplify the voices of persons with disabilities, creating pathways for them to thrive personally and professionally.”
“Our collaboration signals that the business community is ready to embrace a diverse workforce and to empower persons with disabilities to have fulfilling lives and be meaningfully included in our economic and social fabric,” he added.
This MoU solidifies BBDN and BRAC Bank’s long-term commitment to promoting accessibility, employment, and empowerment for persons with disabilities. Through continued collaboration, both organizations aim to create meaningful, sustainable change.
