Bangladesh Business & Disability Network (BBDN), Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) and Access Bangladesh Foundation, jointly organized the ‘Job Fair for Person with Disabilities’ on Saturday 9th December 2017 at Apparel Club, 14th Floor, BGMEA Complex, Dhaka in collaboration with Resource Organizations named LCDB, CRP, UCEP-BD, CDD and PFDA.
The main purpose of the fair was to create job opportunities for persons with disabilities, to sensitize employers about disability inclusive employment and creating more disability inclusive work force in society. The Job fair provides quick and convenient means to apply with several companies. The fair offer benefits to employers and job seekers who are looking for employment.
Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office was present as the Chief Guest in the program. Total more than 400 participants i.e. Job Seekers with Disabilities, Employers, Representatives from Employers’ Organizations like BGMEA, BEF, Government Officials, Development Partners, Disabled People’s Organizations, NGOs, INGOs, and Media were participated in Job Fair where about 250 Job Seekers and 20 employers’ like Grameenphone, Coats BD, Coca-Cola, Urmi Group, Gazi group, CGS were present.
During the day of job fair, 72 persons with disabilities got job through spot interview conducted by 20 potential employer organizations. Besides, another 79 persons with disabilities got job through pre-interview coordinated by job matching committee. Total 151 number of employment has been created through job fair.
Honorable Guests appreciated the arrangement of the Job Fair especially about the result-oriented accomplishment of giving 79 offer letters in hand from the Employers’ in Job fair and Job seekers are satisfied by attending the Job Fair reported by the media.
BBDN is expanding under BEF through experiencing challenges and learning from lessons. The future plan of BBDN is to arrange Job Fair in Regional and Local level in collaboration with Local Employers’ Organizations and DPO’s. In a nutshell, The Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities is a fruitful event and milestone for BBDN except some areas of improvement.
