Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN), Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) and Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) jointly organized a seminar on “Promotion of Disability Inclusion at the Workplace” on 4 October 2018 in Conference Hall of Shrimp Tower, Khulna.
Mr. Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Hon’ble Mayor, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) was present as Chief Guest in the seminar. Mr. Sharif Atiar Rahman, Senior Vice-President, Khulna Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Department of Labour, Khulna Division, Khulna, was present as Special Guest in the seminar. Mr. SK. Md. Abdul Baki, Vice President, BFFEA chaired the seminar. Mr. Humayun Kabir, Director of BFFEA was the moderator of the seminar. Among other guests Directors of KCCI and BFFEA, business leaders, NGO & Civil society representatives and journalists were present.
Mr. Albert Mollah, Consultant, ILO presented power point presentation on disability inclusion and discussed about the steps and major challenges towards the recruitment of persons with disabilities at the work place. Mr. Md. Imranur Rahman displayed the progress through different activities done by BBDN.
In his speech Mr. Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Hon’ble Mayor, (KCC) recommended the business leaders to promote the employment of person with disabilities considering their capabilities. He indicated the importance of disability inclusion in the workforce to achieve the SDG goals by 2030 as Government is working sincerely for the mainstreaming of the person with disabilities.
Mr. Sharif Atiar Rahman, Senior Vice-President, (KCCI) urged to the business community for recruiting the Persons with Disabilities in different business organizations requested the concerned authorities to help the Persons with disabilities so that they can be entrepreneur.
Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Department of Labour, Khulna Division, Khulna urged to the local business leaders for creating employment opportunities for the Persons with disabilities and to establish Job Placement Center in Khulna.
The Vice president Mr. SK. Md. Abdul Baki of BFFEA delivered the concluding remarks by giving thanks to all the participants for their in depth earnestness.
