On 21 October, Bangladesh Business & Disability Network (BBDN), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization and the Promoting Gender Responsive Enterprise Development and TVET Systems (ProGRESS) project, organized the Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities 2025 in Sylhet. The event was held at Hotel Star Pacific, Sylhet, with the goal of creating employment opportunities for skilled persons with disabilities in the Sylhet division.
More than 200 job seekers with disabilities took part in the fair who represented a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds. A total of 14 employers from Sylhet’s business, manufacturing, and service sectors conducted interviews and offered both immediate and long-term job opportunities. During the closing ceremony, 9 candidates received appointment letters.
We were honoured to welcome Mr. Md. Masud Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet, as Chief Guest. Special guests included Mr. Md. Abdur Rafiq, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services, Sylhet; Ms. Lubna Yasmin Shampa, President of the Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Ms. Mashreka Khan, Senior Programme Officer (Gender and Skills Policy), ILO and Mr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, DGM of Fulkoly.
The fair was more than about employment – it was about empowerment, inclusion, and creating pathways for persons with disabilities to thrive in the workplace. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the employers, guests, and participants for their valuable contributions in making this event a success. Together, we continue to build a more inclusive and equitable workforce in Bangladesh.
