On May 18, 2025, Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) conducted the fourth batch of its ongoing Sensitization Session series with BRAC Bank PLC. Held at Sepal Platinum Tower in Tejgaon, the session was organized under the BRAC Bank – BBDN Aporajeyo Ami Program.

The session began with opening remarks from Mr. Shafiq R. Bhuiyan, Vice President & Head of Internal Communication and CSR | Communication, BRAC Bank PLC. It featured interactive activities and discussions led by BBDN team members: Ms. Aziza Ahmed (Director Operations), Mr. Tareq Mahmud (Deputy Program Manager), and Mr. Nayem Molla (Communications and Admin Officer). Participants engaged in meaningful conversations about different types of disabilities, inclusive communication, leadership, and practical strategies to enhance inclusion in the workplace.

A key highlight at the session was an engaging talk by Mr. Emamul Haque, Director, Human Resources at Le Méridien Dhaka. Drawing from his hands-on experience, Mr. Emamul shared powerful stories of overcoming initial challenges in hiring persons with disabilities. With support from BBDN, the hotel launched a recruitment drive and hired three persons with disabilities. Through on-the-job training and sensitization, the team adapted, creating a more inclusive and innovative work environment.

His session underscored how the loyalty and productivity of these employees not only dispelled initial concerns but also set a positive example for other departments. Today, each department is eager to onboard more persons with disabilities, recognizing that inclusion is not just a moral imperative but a smart business strategy that enhances overall team morale and business performance.

The sensitization session also included impactful simulations, such as the Privilege Walk and a Visual Impairment Simulation, helping participants deepen their empathy and understanding of the barriers persons with disabilities often face.

The event concluded with inspiring closing remarks by Ms. Nafisa Shadaf (AVP & Senior Manager – CSR Resource Mobilization, BRAC Bank PLC).

We appreciate BRAC Bank’s continued support and collaboration in enhancing disability inclusion in the workplace. Together, we can create a workforce where individuals with disabilities are truly valued.
