Sensitization Session with BRAC Bank PLC

As part of our continued efforts to promote disability inclusion, the Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) partnered with BRAC Bank PLC, a Premier Member of BBDN, to conduct the second session of the ongoing Sensitization Session series. Held on February 12, 2025, at Sepal Platinum Tower in Tejgaon, the session was organized under the BRAC Bank – BBDN Aporajeyo Ami Program. It aimed to raise awareness and help build a more inclusive workplace for persons with disabilities.

The session began with opening remarks from Mr. Ekram Kabir, Executive Vice President of Communications at BRAC Bank PLC. It included interactive activities and discussions led by BBDN team members: Ms. Aziza Ahmed (Director Operations), Mr. Tareq Mahmud (Deputy Program Manager), and Mr. Nayem Molla (Communications and Admin Officer). Participants gained insights into various types of disabilities, communication etiquettes, inclusive leadership, and practical ways to enhance inclusion in the workplace.

As part of the leadership session, Ms. Nazma Ara Begum Popy, National Project Support Officer at UN Women, shared her personal insights on leading in the workplace and her experiences being mentored by managers. The session also included powerful simulations, such as the Privilege Walk and a Visual Impairment Simulation, to help participants understand the challenges faced by persons with disabilities.

The session concluded with closing remarks by Ms. Nafisa Shadaf (AVP & Senior Manager – CSR Resource Mobilization, BRAC Bank PLC) and Mr. Shafiq R. Bhuiyan (Vice President & Senior Manager – Communication and CSR  | Communication, BRAC Bank PLC), reinforcing the importance of creating an inclusive work culture.
