The Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN), in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Dhaka, Bangladesh, organized the fourth batch of Training on Occupational Disease and Occupational Medicine on 27–28 April 2025, in Dhaka as part of the project ‘Social Protection for Workers in the Textile and Leather Sector (SOSI)’. The two-day training was held at M. Anis Ud-Dowla Conference Hall, BEF Office, Police Plaza Concord, Tower-2, Gulshan-1, Dhaka.
The training aimed to build the capacity of factory medical professionals on workplace hazards, prevention methods, and early detection of occupational diseases to to reduce work-related illnesses and ensure better workplace safety and health outcomes.
A total of 16 participants from 11 factories joined the session, gaining insights aligned with international labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The (SOSI) project supports the development of Bangladesh’s social insurance system with a special focus on Employment Injury Insurance (EII), aiming to provide long-term protection for workers in the event of occupational accidents and illnesses.
